Description
The Baxters story begins in 1868 when, with a little encouragement, George Baxter borrowed £100 from an uncle and other relatives, and opened a small grocery shop in Fochabers. George's wife Margaret, started making jams and jellies in the back of the shop. Once her jams had found their way to Gordon Castle, their superb quality ensured that they swiftly became popular with the Duke's friends up and down the land. Thus the Baxter reputation began to spread. The company is now run by Audrey Baxter, George and Margaret's great-granddaughter. The company uses local suppliers where possible - selects the finest haddock from a local smoke house, uses UK beetroot, uses double cream sourced by a local Scottish diary, located just 20 miles from the Baxter site in Spreyside etc. Some of Baxters new soup range include Highland Game with Cask Aged Sherry, Turkey Broth, Chunky Carrot, Butterbean and Coriander etc. Although all of these are UK produced the ingredients is not necessarily 100% British in all soups (exept the Highland Game). These soups are available in Sainsbury's and due to be released in the other supermarkets in upcoming months.
