Description
The Merrydown story began back in 1946, with three primary school friends - Jack Ward, Ian Howie and John Kelland-Knight – in a garage in Rotherfield, East Sussex. After the war they each put up £100 to turn Jack’s wine-making hobby into a business and Merrydown – named after Jack’s house – was born. This grew and they moved to Horam. The era came to an end in 2005 when Merrydown finally outgrew its Horam site and joined the SHS Group of companies. But some things never change – and the taste of Merrydown Vintage, still made to the same Sussex recipe, is one of them. Merrydown contains no artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners, and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. We use only apple juice and natural sugars to sweeten the product. As with most ciders, we do use sulphites as these help maintain the freshness of the products.
