Description
Greene King brews all of its beers in Bury St Edmunds, where ale has been a feature of life since at least as far back as 1086. But they've taken the traditional art of brewing to new heights, producing what is arguably the finest range of cask ales in the country. It was in 1799 that Greene King first began production of its exceptional ales Abbots Ale, Spekled Hen and IPA amazingly the brewery still draws water from the well sunk into the same chalk beds under Bury St Edmunds. They became the first UK brewer to be awarded Red Tractor certification for using traditional brewing methods and sourcing their barley from local farmers. They have also been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard - the first British brewer to gain the status.
