Description
They started this family run buisness back in 1972 as Bookers Vineyard, with 3 acres of vines. From then there have been international and national awards along the way and a few different winemakers too! The new era for them started in the 1990’s when Samantha Linter, Samantha being the daughter of the owners and founders, Janet and Rodney Pratt, took charge of the winemaking. Since her arrival there have been many more awards and the vineyard plantings have expanded to the now 22 acres. In 2005 a brand new, state of the art winery was completed, with help in the form of a grant from DEFRA. This really and truly takes them to their intended goal of making top quality white, red and traditional method sparkling wines. Some examples are. Pinot Gris A dry white wine with a wonderful aroma of pear, rose petal and hints of spice. On the palate there are lemon, pear and apple flavours. This is a fresh wine with a nice lingering finish. Made from 100% Pinot Gris grapes. Pinot Noir A wonderful example of a cool climate Pinot. A well balanced wine with good medium body and bursting with fruit. Red cherry, bacon and hints of cedar wood which give a lovely complexity on the bouquet and palate. Made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes. Autumn Leaves Only made in exceptional vintages. A superb example of the winemaker’s art! A fresh, lively medium dry wine with a good balance. Complex aromas of gooseberry and elderflower. Good body, with a nice lingering finish, again with gooseberry and elderflower characteristics. Could almost be mistaken for a cool climate Sauvignon Blanc. Made from 100% Muller Thurgau grapes. Autumn Spice A fresh, dry white wine, with balanced crisp acidity. It has slightly spicy undertones and grapey fruitiness. Very popular. made from Muller Thurgau, Schönburger and Wurzer grapes.
